Why do I have to enter the parking rate myself?
Airport parking rates vary by lot, provider, season, and even how far in advance you book, and there's no live pricing feed to pull from. Rather than guess at a rate that would be wrong for most lots, this calculator asks for the rate you already have from the lot or provider you're considering.
How is the total parking cost calculated?
The calculator finds the exact time between your drop-off and pick-up, then bills it in full units — full days for a daily rate, full hours for an hourly rate — rounding any partial unit up to the next whole one, the same way most parking lots bill "per day (or hour), or portion thereof." The billed units are then multiplied by the rate you entered.
Why does a partial day or hour get billed as a full one?
This mirrors how most airport parking lots actually price a stay: if you're parked for any part of a day (or hour, for hourly lots), that unit is billed in full. The result shows exactly how many units you were billed for so there are no surprises.
What does Parking Type affect?
Parking type is shown in your result for reference only — it doesn't change the calculation. The cost is driven entirely by your parking duration, the rate basis you choose, and the rate you enter, since actual rates vary too much between economy, covered, valet, and off-site lots to estimate from the type alone.
