How is the overlapping working time calculated?
The calculator assumes you and your team both work the same local working-hours range — the one you enter. It converts that shared range to UTC for each time zone, then finds the hours where the two converted ranges overlap.
What if there is no overlap between the two time zones?
If your working hours don't overlap with your team's, the calculator will show 0 overlapping hours so you can see at a glance that a schedule adjustment may be needed.
Does this account for daylight saving time?
Yes, for today. The calculator looks up each time zone's real UTC offset for the current date, so if either location is currently observing daylight saving time, that's already reflected in the result. It does not let you enter a future date, though — if a daylight saving transition happens between now and a meeting you're planning further ahead, the offset (and the overlap) could shift, and this calculator won't catch that. Re-check it closer to the date if a transition falls in between.
Can I use this for time zones outside of work?
It's designed for comparing working hours, but you can enter any start and end times to find overlapping hours between two time zones for other purposes too.
